SEO: Leverage your customers for link building
It has come to my attention lately that a number of small, innovative online retailers are placing brief link requests in their order confirmation or shippment confirmation emails. It looks something like this:

Dear Bob:
Thank you for ordering from onlinestore.com! Your confirmation number is #123456; we do our best to ship orders by 5pm each business day.
If you happen to have a Web site or a blog of your own, we would really appreciate if you considered placing a link to our homepage (www.onlinestore.com) – build some good linking karma!
Thanks again for your order. If you have any comments or suggestions, please get in touch with us via email (customerservice@onlinestore.com).
Have a great day,
The Online Store Staff

This is a great idea, and can be translated to any business model. Are you an ad agency? Your clients already like you (otherwise they wouldn’t be in a business relationship with you, would they?). So why not take advantage of that and add a simple link request in your e-newsletters, for example?. This could potentially bring a lot more traffic to your Web site, both through direct referral traffic and through search (thanks to all those newly acquired links).
That said, I would like to ask you: If you happen to have a Web site or a blog of your own, we would really appreciate if you considered placing a link to our homepage (www.sensisagency.com) – build some good linking karma!
